The Issue      SIGN DOC's PETITION
I bear witness to the unjust rules imposed on our young athletes in Tennessee. I have seen kids forced to sit out a year after transferring schools—denied participation solely due to their athletic status—while other students, such as band members and academic achievers, are able to transfer and participate without issue, often due to connections. This is outright discrimination against athletes.
In a free country like America, parents should have the right to choose the school their child attends, and the pursuit of better opportunities should never be hindered.Â
Representative Scott Cepicky, supported by Senator Adam Lowe, has introduced bills HB0025 and SB0016. These bills represent a crucial step toward fairness and could put an end to the existing discrimination against student-athletes. They would prevent any school receiving state funds from being a member of an association that does not support a fair transfer rule, leveling the playing field for all students.
The time has come to address the systemic bias present in the current transfer rules, which unjustly impact our young athletes. This is about more than just athletics; it is about ensuring every child has the right to pursue a brighter future without barriers.
We urge you to sign this petition in support of Tennessee's Bills HB0025 and SB0016, advocating for fairness for all students in Tennessee schools. Your signature can make a significant difference in these children's lives. Together, let’s end discrimination and promote equality for every student and Athletes.Â
Thank you for taking the time to read my petition and I urge you to help All Tennessee Athletes, and Support current Legislation to help make a positive change. Thank you.Â
